a cup of Barista Nation Talks
I am really excited about working with coffee farmers and the importance of their involvement in as many aspects of the coffee chain as possible. So when Mariana Faerron spoke at Barista Nation in Boston I was really excited to see how that worked in Tico Coffee Roasters. Do you know where your coffee comes from? Thanks for sharing!

a cup of Barista Nation Talks
Clayton from UNIC’s talk brought his years of experience working with machines to make them interesting and manageable. I really enjoyed talking to him about coffee’s tendency to enhance other flavors, and how the taste of yeast was present in a coffee because of a brewery down the street. Coffee is a fascinating product and its made better because of good machines and people to work on them. Thanks Clayton!
I will be streamlining a few things around here and making my website more manageable. I would love to hear what you think next week!

a cup of Plaine
Jacob Furr and I had a great time traveling to Alpine, Marfa and Fort Davis a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice retreat and I was glad that I did not have to compromise my love of good coffee at the same time. Especially not with Plaine around. The name is an anagram of the word Alpine where they are located. They sell Big Bend Coffee Roasters coffee, which they batch brew. Its very full and dark. Their indoor and outdoor set up is conducive to hanging out and they also have a food truck cart that serves hot dogs for lunch. I really enjoyed their pastries by Nice Bread, the whole grain almond and coconut scone was delicious. I know I will be back for more!
a cup of SCAA
The SCAA event was truly incredible. I feel like I am still recovering from all the action. There were so many people from all over the world that had so much to share about coffee. I was so grateful to be apart of the Barista Nation Satellite Cafe and to judge for the Latte Art Event. It was really eye opening to see how big the Specialty Coffee world is and how many things you can do and be apart of it. The “Mod Bar” at Counter Culture’s booth was incredible to see as well. It turns the espresso machine upside down literally, with most of the equipment underneath the counter and a clean, spartan design above. There’s so many new and exciting things going on. I look forward to sharing more with you from the Barista Nation Talks and through my Barista Stories Project!
